How we invest · Alternatives

Beyond stocks and bonds. Built into your plan.

Hedge funds, private equity, private real estate, and private credit for accredited investors.

Alternatives add diversification and sources of return beyond public stocks and bonds. We help you decide whether they belong in your plan, select and vet specific funds, and size them around your liquidity needs. A member of our team guides you through every step.

What we offer

Four categories. One goal: a broader portfolio.

Each category does a different job. Most clients use one or two, chosen for what the rest of their portfolio and their business already provide.

01

Hedge funds

Actively managed funds using strategies such as long/short equity, event-driven, global macro, and credit.

Role in a planA flexible complement to the core portfolio, with return drivers that differ from stocks and bonds.

02

Private equity

Ownership in privately held companies through buyouts, growth capital, and venture strategies.

Role in a planLong-term growth and value creation outside the public markets.

03

Private real estate

Private funds that own or finance commercial and residential property.

Role in a planIncome potential and real-asset exposure alongside the rest of the portfolio.

04

Private credit

Loans made by non-bank lenders to businesses or real estate projects, including direct lending, mezzanine financing, and asset-backed loans.

Role in a planAn income-oriented complement to traditional bonds, often structured with floating interest rates.

How we select

Structured due diligence, start to finish.

From the first conversation to implementation usually takes about four weeks. Every step is built around your plan, not a product shelf.

  1. 01

    Start with the plan

We look at your goals, timeline, liquidity needs, and how much of your wealth already sits in your business or company stock, then define what alternatives should do for you.

  2. 02

    Screen and shortlist

We narrow the field to two or three vetted options for each need, favoring distinctive strategies over crowded ones, with fees and terms laid out side by side.

  3. 03

    Due diligence

Each fund is reviewed on four fronts: investment process and risk controls, operations (administrator, prime broker, compliance), the team’s experience and regulatory history, and liquidity terms. We share the findings with you.

  4. 04

    Size, implement, monitor

Positions are sized around what you need to keep liquid and coordinated with your CPA and attorney. After you invest, we monitor each fund as part of your overall plan.

Every step is built around your plan, not a product shelf.

Straight answers

Who qualifies as an accredited investor?

Generally, an individual with income over $200,000 ($300,000 with a spouse or partner) in each of the last two years, or net worth over $1 million excluding a primary residence. Certain professional licenses also qualify. Some funds require higher standards, such as qualified purchaser status. We confirm eligibility before you review any offering documents.

What are the minimums?

Minimums typically start at $100,000 and vary by investment; some are well above that. We share the minimum for each investment up front.

How liquid are these investments?

Each fund sets its own terms. Hedge funds commonly offer monthly or quarterly redemptions with 60 to 90 days’ notice. Private equity is typically committed for 7 to 12 years, private real estate funds commonly run for several years, and private credit funds are typically multi-year, with terms that vary by fund. Lockups, redemption terms, and fees are spelled out in each fund’s offering documents, and we walk through them with you before you invest.
